NEWS: Serious Food and Silliness — February 2, 2016

January 12, 2016 MAG Leave a Comment

Karl Prohaska

You’re a chef.  You’ve thrown your heart and soul into a dish.  You’ve created it.  You’ve executed it to perfection.  Your sear is perfect, temp is right and the presentation rocks.  You put it on the pass and it goes out to the diner.  You take a moment to watch as she takes the first bite….and breaks out laughing uproariously.  Awkward?  Humiliating?

Serious Food and Silliness

No!  Absolutely not.  It’s February 2nd, 2016 and its Serious Food and Silliness at the Mad House Comedy Club at 502 Horton Plaza in San Diego.  Mad House is teaming up with Stone Brewing for a one-of-a-kind Culinary Meets Comedy event.  Chef Karl Prohaska — who’s got some serious chops behind both stove and mic — has put together an All-Star cast for the event:

Hanis Cavin

Hanis Cavin, leader of all things porcine from his perch atop the Carnitas Snack Shack empire.

Rich Sweeney

Former Top Chef contestant and Waypoint Public chef Rich Sweeney.

Anthony Sinsay

Anthony Sinsay from Duke’s La Jolla whom you might recognize from his appearance on Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre Food on the Travel Channel.

Rose Ana Peyron

Rose Ana Peyron from the High Dive.

Ami Cisneros

And Ami, Cisneros, fresh out of Blush.  The a six-course tasting menu will feature a dish from each of the chefs paired with various Stone Brewing beers.  “Dessert,” of course, will at least partially come in the form of the comedy.

Food, suds and laughs are $65.00 per person, limited to 65 people, with tickets available at http://madhousecomedyclub.com/event.cfm?id=431177&cart .
