NEWS: SDF&T’s Michael Gardiner to do Ceviche Wednesday

April 27, 2017 mgardiner

For a year and a half Chef Flor Franco has been hosting Ceviche’s Wednesdays. For the first year they were held at the late-lamented Sirena Cocina in Little Italy. For the first part of this second season they were held at Isabel’s Cantina in Pacific Beach. As of next week (Wednesday, May 3), though, they will be held at Franco’s Atelier (3334 Fifth Avenue) in Hillcrest, the former location of Planet Rooth Design Haus.  And I’m going to have a very good view:  from the kitchen. I’m the guest “chef.”

So far this season Ceviche Wednesdays have featured the food of Chefs Miguel Angel Guerrero, Davin Waite, Aarti Sanghavi, Anthony Sinsay and other luminaries. This time it will be me.  Amongst the dishes I’ll be making in addition to the “Shrimp” and Blood Orange Aguachile pictured above are a Tiradito of Escolar with Roasted Beet and Corn…

…and Another Lao-sy Ceviche — a very Thai take on the theme.  We’ll also be making a Shrimp Saffron Soup.

The festivities will run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Franco’s Atelier, 3334 Fifth Avenue, Hillcrest.  I’m looking forward to it and to seeing you there.
